Dilys Cluer for Whitby and Scarborough 2010

Dilys Cluer is one of the Green Councillors for Stepney Ward, Scarborough.

She is a member of the Planning and Development Committee and Standards Committee, Vice-Chair of the Corporate Strategy Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and Chair of the Central Urban Area Committee.

Dilys chairs the Sustainability Working Group of members and officers of the Council, which drives the implementation of the Sustainability Policy.

A Green Party member since 1979, she has held various posts in the local party and is now Parliamentary Candidate for the first time.

‘Climate Change and Fairness are the main issues on which I shall be campaigning in this election,’ says Dilys.

‘It’s really urgent to tackle climate change at all levels, from individual action up to international agreements. But at the same time we must ensure a better quality of life, especially for those at the bottom of the heap both in our own country and abroad.’

Dilys Cluer, a Classics graduate, is a former teacher and a Quaker.  She enjoys singing and dancing, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
